Will the film be in Latvian?
Yes. The film was shot in the original language people spoke, and that is mostly in Latvian.
The film will be subtitled in English!
Why is the website in English?
For e-commerce in the United States, we prioritized having the site complete in English first.
We are working on a Latvian version, available soon - but wanted to get the word out there ASAP.
How long will the film be?
The film will be a feature length- anywhere from 45 minutes to over an hour.
What are the illustrations for?
We have concepted a map titled "Apcelo savu nometni!" based on the 1930s map "Apcelo savu dzimto zemi!"
which many diaspora Latvians know well from their classrooms in Garezers,
as well as across the globe in our Saturday schools.
Can I share a story or photo?
By all means! We welcome all submissions for the Garezers archive project. While we can't guarantee
whether it would make it into the final cut, we would love to hear from you!
What will the funds be used for?
The funds will go towards post production expenses- meaning putting the film together, now that it has been filmed.
Expenses include professional sound mix, color correction, translation into English with subtitles,
DVD replication costs, graphics and illustrations, and distribution.
What if there is money left over?
All funds remaining after post-production and distribution expenses will be for Garezers the camp.
